It started with 50 questions on the Internet.

The answers led to an audition. The audition led to a call to be contestant.

Now Kennedy Stomps, 15, will be seen smiling into the cameras at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 3 on KSDK Channel 5.

She made the cut to appear on the 2009 Teen Jeopardy! Tournament, which is being held from Nov. 2-13.

Kennedy, a junior at Metro Academic and Classical High School, 4015 McPherson Ave., will be appear on the second day of the tournament, which was taped in mid-August.

She isn't allowed to say whether she moved on. But the Tower Grove South resident is free to say her legs were shaking throughout the experience.

"It was so much fun, but it was a lot of pressure," Kennedy said. "I got really nervous."

Kennedy was at the taping several months after her literature teacher encouraged her to take an on-line test for potential "Jeopardy!" contestants.

"He said my interest in obscure knowledge was perfect for 'Jeopardy!,'" she said.

After taking the test, she was invited to an audition in Chicago. In July, she received a call inviting her on the show.

'I couldn't believe it. It's like, 'Hi, it's Glenn from Jeopardy!,'" she said, describing the call she received.

Kennedy plans to study either medicine or anthopology in college.

But first, there's a matter of fulfilling a promise.

She's promised to use some of her winnings to take classmates on a free field trip to the City Museum downtown.

So did she win anything? That won't be known until Nov. 3 and Kennedy can't say.
