Festus
Water rate hearing
The Festus City Council will conduct a public hearing on water rates at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Festus City Hall. The city's current fee for providing water to those on its system is $8.14 per 1,000 gallons of use per month. Municipal officials say that an increase is necessary to keep pace with the rising costs associated with providing water for residents. The cities of Festus and Herculaneum receive their water from the Cathy Jokerst Water Plant in Herculaneum, which is overseen by the Jefferson County Water Authority.
