Crowd expected for Job Fair 2009
Opportunities offered at Job Fair 2009 are sure to give a boost to hundreds of area job seekers.
The annual event is set for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday in the College Center at St. Charles Community College, 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville. The event is free and open to the public.
Martha Toebben, SCC career services coordinator and job fair coordinator, said the fair will feature booths from business and industry employers. Job seekers will be able to collect information from state and county employment service agencies. Agencies offering assistance in job search, job training and job preparation also will be on hand.
Job seekers may visit www.stchas.edu/events/jobfair to see a list of companies scheduled to attend.

Job fair sponsors, in addition to SCC, are: St. Charles County Missouri Career Center, Missouri Department of Social Services and the Missouri Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Bird watching trips
The St. Louis Audubon Society has several guided, free bird watching trips planned over the next month.
- Saturday at Quail Ridge Park, near the intersection of Interstate 70 and Highway 40/61, off Callahan Road near Wentzville. Dave Rogles will lead this St. Charles County park walk. Meet at 8 a.m. at Shelter No. 6.
- Saturday at Fort Zumwalt Park in O'Fallon. Walks are planned at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. as part of O'Fallon Founder's Day. Free shuttles available from Civic Park to the festival.
- May 16 at Cuivre River State Park. Jim Malone and Joe Eades will lead this all-day trip. Meet at 7:30 a.m. at the carpool lot at the southeast corner of Highway 40 and Highway 94.
- May 16 at Klondike Park, on Highway 94 South in St. Charles County. Mike Thelen will lead.

E-recycling at middle school
Jefferson Middle School, 2660 Zumbehl Road in St. Charles, will host an electronics recycling collection event from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday and 4-7 p.m. Friday.
Web Innovations & Technology Services and Jefferson Middle School will accept electronics and computers for recycling or refurbishing.
Acceptable materials
- Computers, laptops, monitors, keyboards, cords/cables, home and car batteries
- Networking equipment, servers, printers and toner
- Televisions, VCRs, DVD players, stereos, satellite boxes
- Typewriters, calculators, cameras, camcorders
- Home electronics, blenders, toasters, irons and large appliances/white goods
- Video tapes, DVDs, cassettes, CDs, computer software and other data tapes
- Cell phones and home phones

- TVs: $10-20
- Appliances, microwave size and larger, or items with freon: $5
Bring four volunteers with you to help out at the event and receive a free computer.
